Eleanor Margarete Clarmont:
Princess of Incognita Kind, brave, and intelligent, 19 year old Eleanor "Margarete" Clarmont ran away from home, twice, before making her way to the castle. She is very close to her step sister Flora and despises her Stepmother and her stepsister Marissa.

Gracious, well read, and elegant, 20 year old Princess Katherine is promised in marriage to Prince James of Almiris to stop a war from ravaging the realm. Like her fiancee, her heart belongs to another, a Captain lost at sea whom she refuses to believe is dead. She is semi aware that her fiancee's heart doesn't belong to her, but is clueless that his heart belongs to her lady in waiting.
She is close to her widower father but disagrees with the match, even though she wants what is best for both kingdoms.

Princess Annalise:
Confident, prudent, and serious, 21 year old Princess Annalise wants what is best for her kingdom and whatever will heal her father's injured soul. The prospect of marriage to anyone whom she does not love disgusts her, much like it does her twin brother.
She is close to her brother and is extremely close to her father, since she understands the way he thinks. She took on the role of head woman in the royal household after her mother's untimely death.
Flora Elizabeth Trane:
Shy, calm, and musically gifted, 18 year old Flora "Elizabeth" Trane was emotionally abused by her mother before she and her stepsister Elle ran away to work in the castle under assumed names. Although she is new to the art of housekeeping, she is very proficient in the piano and the harp.
Her only friend is her stepsister Elle and she plans to never marry, although if she did she'd want someone who can support her financially and hopefully possesses a noble title.
King Hubert Anthony Rosewood:
Sullen, serious, and regal, 47 year old King Hubert aims to stop a war before it starts by marrying his son to the Princess of Soluna and use their combined military force to defeat their mutual enemy: King George of Bovia.
Inconsolable over his beloved wife's death, he wants his children to know true love as he did, while still preserving the kingdom.
Close to his daughter but distant from his heir, he is also good friends with King Edward of Soluna.

King Edward Julian Seria:
Amiable, ambitious, but conniving, 43 year old King Edward of Soluna wishes to create a kingdom so strong that it is virtually invincible by marrying his daughter to Hubert's son. He is liked by virtually everyone... except his enemy, King George.
He is still grieving over the long ago loss of his wife and relates quite well to Hubert. He is quite close to his daughter but has ulterior motives that he is keeping secret from everyone, including Katherine.
Elizaveta Marion Percival
Experienced, approachable, and a natural born leader, 39 year old Elizaveta has been the head housekeeper for the Royal Family for a number of years. Before her current post she was lady in waiting to the Queen. Her friend's death hit her very hard.
She is suspicious of King Edward's motives but with the queen gone no one will listen to her. She doesn't want the King to be taken advantage of in his emotionally compromised state and she cares deeply for him.
King George Brutus Taron
Calculating, militaristic, but loved by his people, 45 year old King George covets the wealth and resources of Almiris and Soluna, planning to use his colossal, experienced army to bring them both under his rule.
His son is the most important thing to him, aside from his wife. Privately he is kind and amiable, but he puts forth a bullet proof image to the outside world.
Prince Vaun (VAWN) Ebert Taron
Arrogant, calculating, and loved by his people, 25 year old Prince Vaun is very much his father's son. He also has his eyes aimed towards Almiris, but focuses his attention on its princess. He admires Princess Annalise's strength and confidence and wants to make her his queen.
Although he is very much like his father, he is very protective of his mother, a widow before she married George.
